1)  The N has finally set a date for “The Assistants”. The show will premiere on The N on Friday July 10, 2009 at 8:30 et. You can visit the official site clicking here. Dustin is supposed to guest star in episode 6, scheduled to air August 14, if the episodes are aired in the correct order. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I know more.

2) Nominations for the Teen Choice Awards 2009 have been revealed, and Dustin is nominated in the “Choice TV Actor: Drama” category.

Anyway, in his latest official chat Dustin confirmed that he is attacched to a new project called “Gunless”, currently filming in BC. Here are some articles about it:

Yesterday Paramount Home Entertainment and CBS DVD announced that the new remake series will come home on August 11th with 90210 - The 1st Season. This 6-DVD set running 987 minutes will include Cast Commentaries on Selected Episodes, plus Behind-The-Scenes Featurettes about the show’s music, fashion, sets, and more. Cost is $49.99 SRP.

Fans were shocked when news broke that Dustin Milligan (Ethan) won’t be returning next year. Can you talk about the reasons behind cutting Ethan?
R: I honestly think Dustin is such a good actor and such a lovely person. He is incredibly smart and perceptive and I loved working with him. At the end of the year [when I joined the show], I was really encouraging a dialogue between the writers and the actors and he was somebody who took me up on that. He was so thoughtful and careful about his ideas, and I was really impressed. So in my mind, it wasn’t about not liking Dustin, but [about] the character of Ethan. I felt [Ethan] didn’t allow me the freedom that I wanted. I really wanted a range between the characters and I didn’t feel like I could do with that character what I wanted to do with one of my core people. I think Dustin is amazing and he’ll do great. I was very honored to work with him, but he won’t be back.

She also pretty much confirmed that Dustin won’t be back to wrap Ethan’s storyline:

Will Dustin ever show up in a season 2 episode to wrap up his storyline?
R: I’m not absolutely sure, but I don’t think so.

Stop reading now if you don’t want to be spoiled.

Dustin’s character, Brad, first appears on page 36 and is introduced with the apposition “the gigolo”, he is then quickly described as “young, blond, super good-looking, but clearly a complete airhead” and his only mission is, quoting Joel’s words, to “come to my house pretending to be the new pool cleaner,[...] and simply try to seduce my wife”. He later reappears in a hilarious flashback that “plays out like a bad soft-porn flick on Cinemax” in which Brad tries to seduce Suzie, Joel’s wife, asking her for some sunscreen. He later reappears in some briefs scenes and telephone voice-overs (when two characters are on the phone and one, Dustin’s in this case, is not shown, but just heard), but I won’t go into details to avoid revealing too much of the plot. All that I’m saying is that the script is very well done, and although Dustin’s character has quite a small role, he is incredibly funny (dumb characters always are!) and I can’t wait to see Dustin playing an airhead “professional” gigolo.

He shares scenes with Jason Bateman (Joel, who hires him) and Ben Affleck (whom he already worked with in the 2006 comedy “Man About Town”; who now plays Dean, Joel’s best friend, ) and Kristen Wiig (Suzie, Joel’s wife).

[...] Death Strikes 90210: Executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair tells us, “There are some rash actions at the end of the season where one of the characters makes some decisions that may have very serious consequences, life and death consequences if you will.” Though everyone assumes Ethan will bite the dust, since Dustin Milligan is leaving 90210 this season, Rebecca confirms that the cliffhanger death has nothing to do with Ethan. So where does the big death take place? “A lot of stuff happens during prom. There’s love that’s finally fulfilled and yet because of various circumstances, potentially destroyed forever. There’s love, there’s death, there’s heartache, heartbreak,” says Rebecca. [...]

Love Lost: With Ethan exiting, there’s a flurry of questions as to why he’s saying goodbye. As Rebecca teased above, there’s a couple who finally find love, but ruin it forever. You’ll be surprised as to who that couple actually is. Says Jessica, “Ethan’s character has also gone through a lot, you’re going to see in the next couple for him that he’s exploring life and trying to get out of his little bubble of a world that he’s been living in. In a lot of ways Silver and Ethan do have a lot in common and they’ve known each other for a long time. It’s understandable they would have feelings for each other, so they possibly may try to do something.” Does that mean Silver and Dixon are on the outs? “There’s going to be a lot of problems up and down. They’re working out whether or not it works for them anymore and if he’s supportive enough. In the end do they stay together? You’re going to have to see,” adds Jessica. [...]

Being on 90210 was an incredible experience. The friendships I’ve been so fortunate to have made with both cast and crew alike are ones for which I am eternally grateful and, without a doubt, the memories I take with me of the time we shared over Season One will not be soon forgotten. Never have I had the pleasure of working with such a positive, good-natured and talented group and I wish them all the best in the future.

Also, I have already begun growing my unemployment beard and, frankly, it looks striking.

While Kelly and Donna are dining on sushi, Diablo Cody (guest starring as herself) convinces Donna to design a dress for her for a red carpet event.
